Day 2 - Daytona to Melbourne

Another beautiful morning to ride... But the afternoon was too hot!
Truly today was a day from left field... What happened to the sunshine and rainbows we had yesterday???  :)

For the first 55 miles, Noelia is still nursing a slow leak in the rear tire, so we have been stopping every 7-10 miles to add air.  In Titusville we found a bike shop, yay!!!  Ray at Ten Speed Drive fixed up Noelia's wheel with a real touring tire and special tube too.  Hopefully this will do the trick for all her stuff!

Early this morning we took one wrong turn. Dad, on the wrong route, we passed an Electric Train store in South Daytona that sold Lionel Trains!  (Sorry, no pics)

We also stopped by a hardware store and mailed home 6 pounds of junk!!!

Darren, in Titusviille we passed Astonaut High school... thought of you while riding past it. And recalled many family memories of visiting cape canaveral too. You can see the VAB here:

And we also passed LaGrange Street.  No pics on that either.

After lunch, we struggled to make the miles in the heat. The headwinds were horrible all day. And there was a lot of construction on Highway 1. We missed another turn which would have put us along the water as we headed South.

We did finally get back in track and enjoyed beautiful scenery along FL 515.
This was the best part of today's ride.

This road was incredible, pictures do no justice:

As the daylight was getting slim, just 4 miles away from camp, Gayle got a flat in her rear tire.... We went through 2 tubes and used the folding tire. Those dern beaded tires are hard to get back on the rim.

Once we got rolling again, we ran across some missionaries riding bicycles. And YES, we even prayed with them! (We needed it today.)

We finally got to camp, 87 miles later, riding on the sidewalks and using our headlights!   Safe and sound in Melbourne, FL!
